Temple Tour of South India

Day 01: Chennai
Reach to Chennai and check in the hotel of Chennai. Go on to the sightseeing tour that will primarily include tour to Santhome Church, Fort Museum, Kapaleeswarar temple, and National Art Gallery. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Kanchipuram / Mahabalipuram
Take a drive from Chennai to Kanchipuram. The drive itself is a worth experience for the time and effort you put in. Kanchipuram is a historic city hosting thousands of beautiful temples. It is considered to be one of the most sacred seven cities in India. Your sightseeing tour in Kanchipuram will include the temples that have magnificent architecture and invaluable cultural heritage, including the temples of Vaikunda Perumal Temple, Kailasanatha Temple, Ekambareswara Temple and Varatharaja Temple. Later you will visit the only existing temple at the shore in India, Mahabalipuram. Stay overnight at the hotel in Mahabalipuram.

Day 03: Mahabalipuram

Day 04: Pondicherry
Quite a contrast to the temple heritage tour, Pondicherry brings to you all the memories of the days when it was a French colony. The French still have their influence in the acrchitecture and at times in language too. Day 05: Chidambaram
Move on to Chidambaram, the religious town, the place where the Nataraja (Lord Shiva, the Cosmic Dancer) statue is at the famous Shiva temple. Also make a brief visit to Kumbakonam, a temple town nearby that well reveals the untold treasures of the Kumbeswarar Temple, Sarangapani Temple, Nageswarar Temple, Brahma Temple and Swamimalai Temple. Day 06: Velankanni
Reach to Velankanni, the next temple city on your tour. Visit Arokkiya Madha Church where you can offer your prayers at the pious. If you are on this tour during the months of August and September, you will enjoy visiting the church as it is when the special festivals are organized here. Day 07: Tanjore / Trichy
A tour to Tanjore city will get you the sights of Brahadeeswara temple, Nandi (Bull) and the complex of Royal Palace. Tiruchirappalli tour will include visit to the most famous temple Rock Fort, Lord Robert Clive's house and Srirangam Temple. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08: Madurai

Day 09: Rameshwaram
Travelling night and day, you will arrive at Rameshwaram, an island located about four kms off the main land. Day 10: Kanyakumari
Kanyakumari is another famous pilgrimage center on your tour. It is also a famous beach resort at the southern tip of India. Kanyakumari overlooks the union of three large water bodies - Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. Thus Kanyakumari is also known as Thriveni Sangamam. Sightseeing includes a dip in the holy water, a visit to Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Gandhi Mandapam and Temple, and a walk along the virgin beaches where sunsets and moonrise have a story of their own to tell. Day 11: Trivandrum
Trivandrum is the state capital of Kerala that includes visits to the Suchindram Temple and Padmanabhaswamy Temple. After lunch, you can take a visit to the Chitra Art Gallery, famous Napier Museum, and Padmanbhapuram Palace. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 12: Departure
Take a flight from the Trivandrum Airport either to move on to your home or to the next South Indian destination.
